BMCMS teacher chosen for national food safety and nutrition training program

Lisa Chaffins, a teacher at B. Michael Caudill Middle School in was one of 32 teachers nationwide chosen to complete a food science training program developed and implemented in a partnership between the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA), and Graduate School USA. The one-week program for middle and high school science teachers, as well as family and consumer science and health education teachers, took place in Washington this summer.

MCS Has Two Valvoline Teacher Achievement Award Winners

The Kentucky Department of Education and Valvoline™ have selected 24 outstanding Kentucky educators as recipients of the 2017 Valvoline Teacher Achievement Awards (TAA). Two of the 24 are Madison County Schools teachers. Congratulations to Jennifer Farley of Farristown Middle and Brandi Smith of Madison Middle. These teachers qualify to compete for the 2017 Kentucky Teacher of the Year Award, which will be announced next month.

FTMS Principal Receives Distinguished Principal Credential

Madison County Schools is proud to announce that Farristown Middle Principal Alicia Hunter received the Distinguished Principal Credential from the National Institute for School Leadership (NISL). NISL implemented a national advanced credentialing system aiming to transforming the principalship in America. The initiative is being piloted in partnership with districts in Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and Mississippi under a 3-year, $11 million grant from the United States Department of Education’s Supporting Effective Educator Development (SEED) grant program.
