Project Grad Chili Cook Off

Project Graduation will be hosting a chili cook off and live dessert auction Saturday, November 5th from 5:30-7:30 pm at Lexington Road Church of God.  You can enter your chili for $25 and have a chance to win one of the top 3 prizes for best chili.  There is no set price to come eat and vote---donations only.  Also, this would be your chance to meet and eat with the local candidates running for office.  Please visit the project Graduation page on our school website for more information.

MCS Earns Distinguished rating on Unbridled Learning Assessments

Kids are throwing colorful confetti into the air in celebration.Madison County Schools is pleased to announce that the district has earned a classification of “Distinguished” as a district on the 2015-2016 Unbridled Learning Assessments. The district moved up from a “Proficient” designation last year. The “Distinguished” designation means that Madison County Schools is performing among the top 10 percent of districts across the state.

Officer Daniel Ellis 5K Run/Walk

The 2nd Annual Officer Daniel Ellis Memorial 5K Run/Walk will be held on SATURDAY, APRIL 22, 2017 at 8:30am at Richmond Centre Mall.  The race will benefit the Daniel Ellis Foundation and online registration will open later this fall.  You'll receive a subsequent email with the online registration details but for now please mark your spring calendar for this special event.  The race date coincides with Katie's 33rd birthday and what would have been Daniel's 35th birthday so we know it will be a special day/event.  We have big plans for 2017!

Historic Haunt 5K & 10K

HISTORIC HAUNT 5K & 10K on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 22ND:  The inaugural Historic Haunt 5K & 10K will be held SATURDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2016 at 9am at White Hall State Historic Site.  Proceeds from this race will benefit the Officer Daniel Ellis Foundation and Madison Central Cross Country.  We've established coupon code ELLIS10 for 10% OFF online registration (Good through Sunday, September 18th at midnight).  REGISTER and get more info at www.HistoricHaunt.com.  The race will feature chip timing, commemorative race T-shirts, overall & age group awards, best dressed contest and FREE Little Goblins Fun Run.  Are you brave enough?  Come help us raise additional funds for the great work being done by the Daniel Ellis Foundation!

BMCMS teacher chosen for national food safety and nutrition training program Teacher Lisa Chaffins chosen for national food safety and nutrition training program.

Lisa Chaffins, a teacher at B. Michael Caudill Middle School in was one of 32 teachers nationwide chosen to complete a food science training program developed and implemented in a partnership between the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA), and Graduate School USA. The one-week program for middle and high school science teachers, as well as family and consumer science and health education teachers, took place in Washington this summer.

UPDATE:  Madison Middle's Brandi Smith has been selected as a Middle School Finalist. Congratulations to Ms. Smith! Winners from each gade level - elementary, middle and high - will be announced along with the overall winner at a ceremony at 10 a.m. Oct. 19 in Frankfort.


The Kentucky Department of Education and Valvoline™ have selected 24 outstanding Kentucky educators as recipients of the 2017 Valvoline Teacher Achievement Awards (TAA). Two of the 24 are Madison County Schools teachers. Congratulations to Jennifer Farley of Farristown Middle and Brandi Smith of Madison Middle. These teachers qualify to compete for the 2017 Kentucky Teacher of the Year Award, which will be announced next month.

Governor's School for the Arts

FTMS Principal Receives Distinguished Principal Credential Alicia Hunter, Principal of Farristown Middle School

Madison County Schools is proud to announce that Farristown Middle Principal Alicia Hunter received the Distinguished Principal Credential from the National Institute for School Leadership (NISL). NISL implemented a national advanced credentialing system aiming to transforming the principalship in America. The initiative is being piloted in partnership with districts in Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and Mississippi under a 3-year, $11 million grant from the United States Department of Education’s Supporting Effective Educator Development (SEED) grant program.

Governor's School for Entrepreneurs
