2016-2017 Madison Central Basketball Indians 2017 KY State Mock Trial Competition had 3 teams from Madison County Schools in the top 10.  MCHS teams came in 9th and 5th place.  MSHS cam in 3rd. JROTC 168 students went to regionals to compete in the STLP (student technology leadership Program Madison Central Band KMEA State Camps Band stops playing and he turns. 3 peat Drum Majors 2 Drum Majors 4 Drum Majors MCIgnitegreatness Madison Central Band State Champs A Record 3 Years in a Row!!!

iBELIEVE at EKU

The iBELIEVE Foundation strives to provide opportunities to Appalachian youth for the development of 21st Century Skills such as leadership, communication, and problem solving. Ultimately, the ambitious goal is to increase collegiate attendance and retention in the Appalachian communities of Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia….and now Kentucky!!!!  See guidance counselor for information.

 

April ACT Registration Deadline Extended

The deadline for the April 8th ACT has been extended to this Friday, March 24th.  There is a late fee to register.  Although this test is during Spring Break, it will be offered at Madison Central.

MCHS Ghost Out Program Set for March 28

On Tuesday, March 28, the Ghost Out Program will be presented at Madison Central High School. The "Grim Reaper" will be walking the halls of Central in the morning claiming student and faculty victims. These people represent the staggering statistics that every 30 minutes someone in the United States is killed because of an impaired driving accident. The Ghost Out Assembly will be in the Health Building Gym from 1:20 to 2:50 p.m. The timing of this dramatic and catastrophic event is intentional for the decisions made by our students during Spring Break and Prom.

Dual Credit Classes for 2017-18

Any student who signed up to take EKU NOW!! dual credit classes next year must complete the online application for fall 2017 .  Please go to www.dualcredit.eku.edu then “How to Apply” and follow the instructions. Please make sure you are signing up for Fall 2017.  You will also need to turn in the tuition acknowledgement form, signed by your parent or guardian, to your counselor,  as soon as possible. 

The deadline to go online and apply and to return this form is May 1, 2017.   After that date, you won’t be allowed to take EKU NOW!!! Courses.

Please go ahead and take care of this so we can complete your application with EKU.

Any student needing to sign up for EKU NOW dual credit next year may come to LAB A during 5th or 6th period this Friday, March 24, 2017.

Inner Space Camp

EKU Psychology department is hosting  a summer camp called Inner Space Camp. Its an opportunity for high school age students to spend a week on campus learning about different areas of psychology by attending lectures by EKU professors. See attached brochure.

This impressionable and purposeful program is being brought to us through the partnership of MCHS Administration, YSC, CIA (Central In Action) Club, Faculty and Staff, EKU Baccalaureate Nursing Program, Madison County Health Department, KSP, RPD, First Baptist Church, MADD, Madison County Coroner's Office and Madison County First Responders.

Important Senior Information

Senior Awards Night is Tuesday, May 16th at 6:00 p.m. in the MCHS Auditorium.

 

Any Senior wishing to tryout to perform a music act at the Senior Awards ceremony must sign up outside of rooms 1008 (Briscoe), 2010 (Gray) or 3010 (Ingram) between March 27th and March 31st.  Tryouts will be held Wednesday, April 12th at 3:00 p.m. in Mrs. Gray’s room (2010).

 

Seniors may pick up a scholarship form for Senior Awards Night outside of room 1008.  All scholarship forms are due by Friday, April 28th to Mrs. Briscoe.  A hard copy of this form and proof of the scholarship needs to be turned in to be recognized at the Senior Awards ceremony.

Celebrate Senior Success

Gear Up is asking seniors to bring college letters of acceptance to room 3110 to be copied & displayed in the school lobby.  All personal information (except name) will be removed.  Let us celebrate your successes with you!!

Indians Auto Show

The MCHS Special Education Department is sponsoring an auto show on Saturday, May 6 (rainout date: Sunday, May 7) in the Health Building parking lot behind the school.  Registration will be from 8:00-10:00 AM with registration fee of $15.   Best-of-Class Awards will be given in the following categories:  Ford, GM, Mopar, Rat Rod, Bike, Student Choice, & Best of Show.  100% of the proceeds will benefit the STUDENTS of MCHS!

Graduation Dates Set

The Madison County Board of Education set graduation dates and times for both high schools during its regular meeting on March 9. Graduation for Madison Central High School seniors will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 19. Graduation for Madison Southern High School seniors will be at noon on Saturday, May 20. Both graduation ceremonies will take place at Eastern Kentucky University's Alumni Coliseum.

2016 Graduates: Yearbooks at MCHS

2015-2016 Yearbooks for 2016 graduates are ready for pick up in the front office on weekdays, 7:30am -3:30pm. You can send someone to pick up your yearbook for you. They will have to sign for it.

Purchase a 2017 MCHS Yearbook before March 1, 2017 for $65.  After this date, the price will increase.

Need a quiet place to study or do your classwork on NTI days? The Madison County Public Library is here for you! MCPL is a quiet, safe space with access to the internet, computers, and lots of fun too like video games, a teen room space, and more! MCPL wants to be here for you on your snow days, and we will be open on MOST Madison County NTI days. Check our website to make certain we're open, and then come on over! Tutoring at MCHS

GEAR UP would like to remind parents and students that after school tutoring is available in the GEAR UP office Monday through Thursday from 3:00 to 4:00.  We offer assistance in most subjects and  students may come to Room 3110 for information on how to sign up daily.

Officer Daniel Ellis 5K Run/Walk

The 2nd Annual Officer Daniel Ellis Memorial 5K Run/Walk will be held on SATURDAY, APRIL 22, 2017 at 8:30am at Richmond Centre Mall.  The race will benefit the Daniel Ellis Foundation and online registration will open later this fall.  You'll receive a subsequent email with the online registration details but for now please mark your spring calendar for this special event.  The race date coincides with Katie's 33rd birthday and what would have been Daniel's 35th birthday so we know it will be a special day/event.  We have big plans for 2017!
