4H Demonstrations at Kingston

Mrs. Conley's 5th Grade classes have been practicing their speaking and listening skills while participating in the school 4H Demonstration Contest. Local 4H agent, Miranda Shearer, presented the classes with an outline for the contest. Students were able to prepare and practice for the demonstration of their choice. During the week of December 15 - December 19, students were able to perform their demonstrations in class. Stduents were awarded white, red, and blue ribbons based upon their demonstration score. The top six demonstrations in each class also received a purple ribbon which allows them to compete in the District Competition on January 15.

Kingston Christmas Program

Students in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades at Kingston Elementary treated the rest of the school, family, and community members to a Christmas Musical Celebration! Special thanks to Mrs. Shannon Abney and all of her helpers for making this such a joyful celebration at Kingston.

Bechtel Parsons Blue Grass grant recipients announced

Each year, Bechtel Parsons Blue Grass awards 10 $1,000 grants to Madison County Schools teachers who have innovative ideas in the areas of science, math, and/or technology. This year's grant recipients have been announced and their ideas range from understanding spatial reasoning and engineering rules to building bridges that will withstand earthquakes and even creating virtual lab experiences. Congratulations to these teachers!

Math Intervention Teachers Honored with Trailblazer Award

Thirteen Kentucky teachers received the Northern Kentucky University Trailblazer Award for Mathematics Education during a presentation by President Mearns Dec. 4 at the Embassy Suites Lexington. Among them were 5 math interventionists from Madison County Schools.

5th Grade Students Visit Boone Tavern

5th Grade students from Kingston Elementary attended Boone Tavern on December 8. Students discussed proper manners and etiquette for attending a restaurant. While at Boone Tavern, students enjoyed a five course meal consisting of cream of mushroom soup, spoon bread, salad, herb crusted chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, and a chocolate chip parfait.

Family Game Night is a Success

Kingston families filled the school's library and gymnasium to listen to Christmas carols, play games, and create take home games to continue the fun once they left. Special thanks to the Family Resource Center and Title I Program for supplying yummy pizza and drinks for our families.

Kingston FCA hosts successful food drive

The Kingston FCA organized a very successful food drive this year. Students and staff donated a total of 2,147 pounds of food! All food donated has been given to the Kingston Family Resource Center to distribute to Kingston families in need this holiday season.

Kingston Elementary students honored local veterans on Tuesday, November 11, 2014. Veterans were recognized and treated to a program including a poetry reading and music. The program concluded with a reception for the local veterans.

FCA will begin meeting every Wednesday morning from 7:30 - 7:50 am in the Kingston Library. If your child would like to attend, we will be starting on November 5th.
