Public forum to discuss the district facilities plan is scheduled

On behalf of the Madison Board of Education, the Madison County Local Planning Committee will convene its 8th meeting and 3rd public forum to continue development of the District Facilities Plan. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. local time Monday, March 2, 2015, at the Glenn Marshall Elementary School Media Center. This public forum will be for the purpose of discussing items concerning the District Facilities Plan. The public forum will be followed by a meeting to consider items discussed in the forum and the review of the plan by the Kentucky Department of Education.

Next confidentiality training location changed

The next confidentiality training is scheduled for Monday, March 2, at 6 p.m. The location has been changed to Farristown Middle School.

Wrestlers to represent MCS at State Competition

Madison County Schools will be well represented at the state wrestling competition this year. Congratulations and Best Wishes to Sam Kauer, Justus Williams, and Joey Scribano from Madison Southern High; and Jonathon Gadd, Ryan McManus, Chris Morrow, Will Keeney, Aaron Flenner, and Corban Couch from Madison Central High.

February Board Meeting Notes

Tony Thomas, architect with Clotfelter-Samokar Architects, presented the preliminary renderings for the renovations at Foley Middle and Silver Creek Elementary schools at Thursday’s regular Board of Education meeting. The renderings are part of the first stages for planning and development for the renovation projects that will begin at Foley and Silver Creek in the fall.

Kingston Students Participate in Archery Tournament

Kingston Students participated in an Archery Tournament at B. Michael Caudill Middle School this weekend. Congratulations on all of your hard work and determination.

Kingston Students Win at County 4H Competition

Congratulations to our Purple Ribbon 4H District Winners: Alyssa Bailey, Macie Daniels, and Sarah Poulton.

4th and 5th grade students receiving purple ribbons at the School Level Speech and Demonstration contests were invited to participate in the District Level competitions in January. Several Kingston students attended this competition. Kingston has three students that have advanced to the State Competition. We are very proud of everyone that participated.

4th and 5th Grade Visit Toyota

4th and 5th grade students from Kingston Elementary visited Toyota in Georgetown, KY. Students were able to discuss an assembly line and see it in action.

Congratulations Academic Team

Congratulations to the 4th and 5th grade Academic Teams for their victories against Glenn Marshall Elementary. We are very proud of each of you.

4H Demonstrations at Kingston

Mrs. Conley's 5th Grade classes have been practicing their speaking and listening skills while participating in the school 4H Demonstration Contest. Local 4H agent, Miranda Shearer, presented the classes with an outline for the contest. Students were able to prepare and practice for the demonstration of their choice. During the week of December 15 - December 19, students were able to perform their demonstrations in class. Stduents were awarded white, red, and blue ribbons based upon their demonstration score. The top six demonstrations in each class also received a purple ribbon which allows them to compete in the District Competition on January 15.

Kingston Christmas Program

Students in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades at Kingston Elementary treated the rest of the school, family, and community members to a Christmas Musical Celebration! Special thanks to Mrs. Shannon Abney and all of her helpers for making this such a joyful celebration at Kingston.

5th Grade Students Visit Boone Tavern

5th Grade students from Kingston Elementary attended Boone Tavern on December 8. Students discussed proper manners and etiquette for attending a restaurant. While at Boone Tavern, students enjoyed a five course meal consisting of cream of mushroom soup, spoon bread, salad, herb crusted chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, and a chocolate chip parfait.

Family Game Night is a Success

Kingston families filled the school's library and gymnasium to listen to Christmas carols, play games, and create take home games to continue the fun once they left. Special thanks to the Family Resource Center and Title I Program for supplying yummy pizza and drinks for our families.

2014 Food Drive Results

Thank you so much to Kingston's FCA for organizing the Food Drive this year. Students and Staff donated a total of 2,147 pounds of food! All donated food has been given to our Family Resource Center to distribute to Kingston families in need.

Miss Kentucky 2014 Visits Kingston Elementary

Miss Kentucky, Ramsey Carpenter, visited Kingston Elementary on Friday, November 14. After speaking with students during an assembly program, Miss Kentucky joined the students in the school cafeteria during their lunchtime.

Veterans Honored at Kingston Elementary

Kingston Elementary students honored local veterans on Tuesday, November 11, 2014. Veterans were recognized and treated to a program including a poetry reading and music. The program concluded with a reception for the local veterans.

Mad Scoops Rewards Kingston Students

Kingston Elementary would like to THANK Mad Scoops for rewarding all students that had Perfect Attendance or Straight A's on their last report card. We truly appreciate your recognition of the hard work that goes on at our school.

FCA at Kingston

FCA will begin meeting every Wednesday morning from 7:30 - 7:50 am in the Kingston Library. If your child would like to attend, we will be starting on November 5th.

4th Grade Classes Attend Walk With the Arts

4th Grade students from Kingston Elementary attended the Walk With the Arts event in Berea, KY.
