Artist Trading Cards

Students are starting to turn in their Artist Trading Cards and already winning PRIZES from the cafeteria!  You could be next!  All you need to do is pick up a card from the cafeteria and create a work of art featuring any food related image (think farming, being healthy, fruits & vegetables, snacks & drinks, and so on).  The cafeteria will randomly pull five cards daily and those students will be rewarded with an item from the ala carte room.  Cards must be dropped off in the morning at the breakfast line.  You may submit more than one card.  All cards are due January 29th and voting for the People’s Choice Award will begin in February.

Congratulations To All-District Band Members

Congratulations to these students for making All-District Band:

  • Madison Hoover
  • Bailee Johnsen
  • Sidney Carpenter
  • Kylie McCulloch

Students from all over the district auditioned to make this top-notch band.

9 MCS teachers awarded Innovation Grants

Bechtel Parsons Blue Grass (BPBG) presented a $10,000 donation to Madison County Schools to fund innovative classroom activities focused on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Teachers from nine different schools will share the funds from BPBG for activities to promote student-centered learning.

Winter Weather Information

It's finally winter! The cold temperatures create a good time to remind parents about a few things:
1. If school is cancelled due to inclement weather, the cancellation will be found on the district's website, social media pages, and on the local news outlets. If you see a social media friend post that school has been cancelled, please check one of the official sites to confirm. Those sites can be found by clicking these links:  Facebook or Twitter.
2. The district does use a delay system on occasion. If a delay is called and you need additional information, please click HERE.
3. This year, the district has the opportunity to use Non-Traditional Instructional Days (NTI: Madison). NTI days will be announced in the same way that cancelled or delayed days are announced. If you have not received information from your child's school, please contact them as soon as possible. Additional NTI: Madison can be found HERE.

Artist Trading Cards

Artist Trading Cards

You are invited to participate with Foley Middle School’s Artist Trading Cards

What are Artist Trading Cards?  Well, they are miniature works of art about the same size as a baseball card.

How do you make one?  You can use any kind of material (media) for your card.  For example, paint, crayons, coloring pencil, ink, marker, construction paper and so on.

What do I create on the card?  Any food related image.  If I wanted to draw a slice of pie, I could!  If I wanted to draw how healthy eating affects me, I could!  If I wanted to draw a detail of my cereal in a bowl of milk, I could!  I could create any food related image with patterns, or water color, or an abstract fork!  Just go for it!

When are they due?  Trading cards are to be turned in daily to the cafeteria during Breakfast from January 11th-January 29th

Can I make more than one?  Sure, pick up more cards from the cafeteria

Will there be prizes?  Yep, the cafeteria will pick 5-10 random artist cards daily for prizes from the ala carte.  Once all cards have been submitted by January 29th, a PEOPLE’S CHOICE voting will begin and prizes will be given for each grade level

Yearbook News

This year, Ms. Fergie is using a feature offered by Jostens (publisher of our Yearbook) called "ReplayIt." With this feature students and parents will be able to upload their own photos into a "Time Capsule" that all students and parents will be able to see at the end of year--it will be sort of a like a slide show of the year. This is a great way for your pictures to be seen, and to be used in the Yearbook! If you have a SmartPhone, you can download the "Replayit" App--if you do not, NO WORRIES, click this link and begin uploading.
