IMPORTANT EVENTS\THINGS TO REMEMBER ABOUT THIS INDIVIDUAL:
Thurgood Marshall was selected to serve on the Supreme Court, June 13, 1967. He was the first African American Supreme Court Justice, and he served for 23 years before he retired in 1991. Marshall served as the Director of Counsel for the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) for 21 years. Thurgood Marshall was also a prominent lawyer. He is known for his role in Brown v. Board of Education. The decision for this case made segregation in schools legal. Marshall won an amazing 29 of the 32 cases he argued as a lawyer.
