Micheal Jordan is considered by most the best basketball player of the mid-1980s and in the 1990s. Throughout his NBA Basketball career, he won many awards, recognitions, and honors. Listed below are just a few of his long list of accomplishments.
- While attending the University of North Carolina, he was named the Consensus College player of the year in 1984 and the College Player of the year by The Sporting News in 1983 and 1984.
- He was NBA rookie of the year 1984-85.
- He was a member of the Gold Medal winning 1984 and 1992 U.S. Olympic Basketball Teams.
- He was the first player in the league history to record 2,000 steals and 100 blocked shots in one single season (1986- 87).
- He was on the NBA all-star team in 1985-1993 and 1996-1998.

Before the 1993-94 season, he retired from the game to try his hand at baseball, but his love for the hoop led him back to the NBA on March 15, 1995. Michael announced his retirement from basketball and the Chicago Bulls for a second and final time on January 13, 1999.
