Birth date: February 5, 1934

Birth Place: He was born in a part of Mobile, Alabama called "Down by the Bay," a poor black area of town. Soon after his birth, the family moved to a better area of Mobile called "Toulminville".

Parents: His parents were Estella and Herbert Aaron. They had 8 children. Hank Aaron was the third born in the Aaron household.

Important events/things to remember about this individual:
Aaron is considered by some the best baseball player in history. In his 23-year Major League Baseball career, Aaron compiled more batting records than any other player in baseball history. He holds the record for runs batted in with 2297.

He also was the first player to collect 3,000 hits and hit 500 homers, was an All-Star selection every year but his first and last seasons, was the National League MVP in 1957, was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame on Jan. 13, 1982, won four gold glove awards, was one of five Braves to have his number retired, and tied with Willie Mays for the most times on the winning side of an All-Star Game with 17.

Aaron's most acclaimed accomplishment came on April 8, 1974. At the age of 40, he hit a 385-foot home run against the Los Angeles Dodgers, thus surpassing Babe Ruth's record of 714 career home runs. He ended his career with 755 home runs.

Aaron currently serves as corporate vice president of community relations for Turner Broadcasting Systems, Inc.(TBS).
